Everyday
Today I stand
with open arms
an open heart
and open sores
and I've almost
forgotten
what good
is for
because
beauty goes unnoticed
songs go unsung
and when our children
ask our dreams
we say we have none
oh i know it’s not like this
on both sides of the river
and there are places
in the world
people actually
deliver
and love is not a word
that they say
but it’s something
that they do
everyday
oh love is not a word
that they say
but it’s something
that they do
everyday
What we need is visionary
which is different than
rhetoric
or commentary
We need a movement
that gains momentum
the way water
gathers
or that spreads
the way
light
scatters
cuz I know it’s like this
on both sides of the river
there are places in the world
people actually
deliver
and love is not a word
that they say
but it’s something
that they do
everyday
oh love is not a word
that they say
but it’s something
that they do
everyday
I thought I had more
than a human could bear
and I bore it
so if you're looking at testing me
Go For It
I'm frighteningly human
I quiver
and I shake
and this ain't
gonna be
my last mistake
I don't know how long it will take you
to realize
that i won't bury the world's pain
in my eyes
and that's not something for which
I should apologize
but that
doubt
in your heart is
if i see things
that are broken
I mend them
and if I need
these walls
I'll defend them
if you have extra hands
well then
lend them
cuz the world needs
all the help
we can give
I'm not saying
we should work
til we're tireless
but I believe
we should lead lives
that inspire us
so that one day
the stars
might
admire us
as we shine
with the light
of our souls
If you have a dream
well then live it
your life is a gift
so give it
if you believe
in love
well admit it
with each and every
breath that you take
cuz it’s like this
on all sides
of the river
there are places in the world
people actually
deliver
and love is not a word
that we say
but it’s something
that we do
everyday
no love is not a word
that we say
it’s something
that we do
everyday
